The latest edition of Fiver Fest has been taking place in Teddington. It was organised by the brilliant Totally Locally Teddington, who are a group of people doing rather nice things for Teddington. Over the two-week event local businesses discounted 45 amazing deals to the bargin-tastic price of just £5 in order to get local people shopping locally.
But why shop locally? Well, the wonderfully well-informed folk at Totally Locally tell me that if every adult in Teddington spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops, instead of online or at the big supermarkets, it would be worth an extra £5.1m each year to the local economy. Kind of makes sense, and with the news that Kitchen Sync is closing down, following a few other independent shops being forced out of business, it makes you think. I must admit that I have (in the past) popped into local shops and then sourced deals cheaper on the internet. But, I have lived in Teddington now for 16 years, and have come to care a great deal about my local town and the people in it. Teddington is my home, it's a place I am proud of, and want it continue being a vibrant, happy place to live.
So, armed with my new Totally Locally shopping bag and purse full of fivers, I went in search of some great deals. It wasn't a hard search!
One of my favourite deals was in the fantastic restaurant, Shambles. It's a lovely place, and we are always treated warmly by the staff, and the food is consistently excellent.
Shambles had two Fiver Fest deals: for kiddies they had a 3 course menu for £5, and for grown-ups their rather epic breakfast 'The English' was knocked down to £5. So, for a lazy Saturday brunch it would be rude not to, eh?!
The kiddies decided on chocolate profiteroles for their pudding. I was lucky enough to get a taste, and it was scrummy.
I also managed to visit other local shops, to spend a few fivers. I had a lovely chat in Heirloom and got some Fiver Fest coffee. The lady in the shop was so lovely, and clearly listens to what local residents and shoppers want and need. My Mum is adamant that she gets a card with 'Mothering Sunday' on. I always have to search out a card as they are scarce (and generally dreadful) as most nowadays have 'Mother's Day' on it. I was overjoyed at getting a lovely one at Heirloom, and I know my Mum will love it.
So, did you visit any shops in Teddington for Fiver Fest? What was your favourite? Leave me a comment or Tweet at me, as I would love to hear from you.
Thank you for reading. If you like what you see, and need a local photographer, please do get in touch with me here.
Mother's Day (or Mothering Sunday, as my Mum INSISTS it is called!), is on 15th March this year. Why not give something a little different, and have a photo shoot? This offer is to give to all those lovely, hardworking, and extra special mums something to treasure.
It can be used as a family session, or a session just with mums and their children, or even mums with their grown up children (totally up to you)! A lovely way to capture your family right now. I promise it will be fun, and give you something you can treasure forever.
What is a mini session?
Lasting 30 minutes, they are simply a shorter version of a bespoke full portrait shoot (which normally last around 1-2 hours). Due to the shorter shoot time, you will be shown fewer photos (typically 15 images).
When are the mini sessions?
These 'Mummy and Me' sessions will be presented as a gift certificate, for you to organise a mutually convenient date with me. The vouchers must be used within 6 months.
Where will they be held?
They will be on location, usually in a local park. I will hold them in (or near) Teddington. If you live further afield, and wish for me to travel to you, please contact me to discuss additional mileage fees.
How much does a mini session cost?
The price for the 'Mummy and Me' mini session is £150. This includes:
The same number of digital images, folio, and session fee during a full photography session would cost you £245, and so saves you £95. You can see my full pricing details by clicking here.
What is a folio?
Ooh, glad you asked. It is a product that I LOVE, and is just perfect keepsake, to say thanks to all you mum's. Have a look below to see what it is. They are three 7x5 photos, mounted and presented in a folding folio.
How can I book?
Please complete your details on my contact page by clicking here (or alternatively please email me). I will then send you an invoice for £50. Once you have paid the £50, your gift certificate will be confirmed, and sent to you. The remaining £100 must be paid within 5 days of the shoot.
Other important points
In the event that it rains on all of the days we suggest, or the very unlikely event that we cannot find a date we can all do, then your £50 will be reimbursed in full.
If you have any questions, please just contact me and I will be happy to talk it through with you.
The weather we had late autumn last year was just amazing. This family shoot was on 29th November, yet the sun came out to shine, showing off the autumn colours perfectly. It was even warm! Now, sometimes when you are editing a shoot, you see a photo that just shines out at you. This was one of my 'wow' pictures, and I just love.
The little girl is just THE most adorable, sweet natured four year old, and her two year old little brother had the best cheeky grin. They were such a pleasure to photograph. You may notice a little red truck makes an appearance in many of the photos. He was rather attached to it. At one point I had the truck literally balanced on my camera lens to get some amazing smiles! I was (of course) very honoured to have said truck in my possession, even for a mere moment.
I will let you into a little secret, I am a bit of a sucker for autumn leaves being kicked around and thrown in the air. I think I had as much fun as they did!
Parks and woods are one of my most favourite places to capture families. So many things to play with and peek around. I just love this one ... peek-a-boo...
This family were up for having fun and playing silly games. They were also rather good at holding hands and playing the 'on the count of 3 ....RUN...' game, which gets some fantastic shots, but even more giggles.
I just love this image, of big sister putting a protective arm around her little brother. Getting these tender and special moments just make my heart melt.
I hope you have enjoyed looking through the photo shoot I did last year. If you would like a photo shoot, please get in touch here, to contact me.
